Norbury to take on Grafton in September Final
Following the last two ties in the league stage of the competition held on Sunday 11 June, the two 2017 finalists lining up to contest the Final in September were ultimately determined.
Norbury Park hosted Woodfield Grove and garnered sufficient points to grab the top spot in the league, with 22 to its name, just pipping Grafton, who came in a close second with 21 points, after they narrowly defeated Telford Park, 5-4, away at Telford.
The final places in the 2017 Millennium Cup League were as follows:
- Norbury Park – 22
- Grafton – 21
- Telford Park – 17
- Woodfield Grove – 15
- Wigmore – 14
Since Grafton hosted Norbury Park in this year’s league tie, it falls to Norbury to stage the Millennium Final and while arrangements have yet to be confirmed, this is scheduled for Sunday 17 September.
The alternative date for the Final is Sunday 24 September.
Norbury Park won the Millennium Cup in 2002 and 2003 and were finallists in 2014, when they lost out to Wigmore, and then again last year, when Grafton got the better of them.
Grafton has won the trophy three times – in 2009, 2010 and 2016 – and been finalists on three other occasions, in 2008, 2012 and 2015.
The two face up again this year to determine the 2017 Millennium Cup Champions.
Match reports on the two ties held over last weekend to follow.
