Telford Park take the lead

TELFORD PARK DEFEAT WOODFIELD GROVE 7-2

27 April 2014

Telford Park suffered a 7-2 loss in their opener against Wigmore on 6 April, but made amends when they defeated holders Woodfield Grove at home on Sunday 27 April by the same score.

Having played two ties, the only club thus far to do so, Telford Park takes the lead in the league competition with nine points, leaving Woodfield Grove trailing with just two points.

“It was a poor start for us,” lamented WGTC’s Claire Lean. “We started great with two convincing wins from Ben [Thompson] and Anna [Thompson] in the boys and girls under 16s, but then we fell away.

“As the scores show, we were outclassed but then we do usually start slowly!”

Woodfield Grove team fielded several new members to the club who clearly found the change of surface difficult to deal with.
