Narrowly beating hosts Norbury Park…
Woodfield Grove Tennis Club scored its first win of the league stage in the 2019 Millennium Cup defeating hosts Norbury Park LTC, 5-4, on Sunday 2 June.
It was the last tie of the season, pitching the two ‘lucky losers’ languishing at the foot of the leaderboard.
“It was great fun,” said Norbury’s captain, Lisa Patient.
Fun is a cornerstone of Millennium Cup play, as the competition provides players new to match play competitive experience in a friendly environment.
Woodfield’s win was helped in part to Norbury being unable to field a girl under 16, but the rest of rubbers were closely contested.
